In addition to supporting these existing programmes, we also work with our partners to create unique learning opportunities and transformative experiences for volunteers.
Our volunteer programmes fall into three categories:
Volunteers spend time aboard medical ships, playing a role in providing primary care to isolated communities as part of our in-country medical and dental programmes.
Vine Trust has been working in Peru since 2001. The Amazon Hope Programme is based in the rainforest city of Iquitos, in the Loreto region of Peru.
Social, cultural and environmental factors, together with the challenge of providing healthcare to a highly dispersed and remote population, all contribute to the Loreto Region having some of the worst health indicators in the country. Since its establishment, the Amazon Hope Medical Programme has delivered over 2 million free medical and dental consultations to riverine communities in this area.
We have been working in in multiple parts of Tanzania since 2012. Our school and community partnership expeditions take place in Moshi, in the Kilimanjaro region, while our medical programme operates around the islands of Lake Victoria in the Kagera region.
The Jubilee Hope Medical Programme operates out of Tanzania’s second-largest city, Mwanza, which lies on the south side of Lake Victoria. Mwanza itself is a major industrial centre and a busy port, but there are hundreds of small fishing communities with little to no access to high-quality medical care on the islands and along the 2,000-mile coastline of the lake.
